Chocolat

I love the movie "Chocolat". After watching it again, my spirit feels lighter and I feel refreshed. There so many life lessons or reminders in the movie; so much going on behind a look or a gesture. You can feel what Vianne feels as the wind picks up and blows through the lives of the townspeople. I'm reminded that while it is good to make healthy choices and smart decisions, it is also wise to enjoy life and live it to the fullest. Reserve judgment and condemnation and be accepting of the choices of others. Delight in another’s pleasure and embrace your emotions, be they painful or pleasant.

Chocolat” is a sensual treat in every way:  from Roux’s guitar strumming to the pounding of the cocoa beans; the heady aroma of chocolate and the colorful red cloaks against the dingy gray town; you can almost taste the delectable dinner served at Armande’s party. Not only are your senses given a workout but a vast array of emotions and realizations are subtly experienced by the rich and endearing characters.

I don’t want to give away too many specifics if anyone reading this has not yet seen the movie. I can only say run, don’t walk, to your nearest video store and pick up this movie. Don’t bother with a rental because this one’s a keeper.
